A Special Project for Dishcloth Dresses

Recently I was contacted by a fellow Ravelry member from Pennsylvania about a special project that her group was knitting for Meals on Wheels.  The dishcloth dresses are added to the recipients tray as a special gift on their birthday.

Here's a few photos that she sent me.

I love the charms that they've added to make them extra special.

The charms are actually stick pins that can be removed when the dress is used as a dishcloth.

There are about 12 women actively working on them but there are 20 members in the group.  We call ourselves Saucon Knit Works and mainly knit for charity.

Their main focus is on hats, gloves & scarves for underprivileged/needy children. Some of the charities that they support are:
Mary’s Shelter- homeless pregnant women
Mercy School for Special Learning-special needs children
The Boys and Girls Club of Allentown-several of our members teach knitting there after school once a week
The Children’s Home of Easton-orphanage
New Bethany Ministries-shelter for homeless women
Allentown Rescue Mission-shelter for homeless men
Inner City Schools in Allentown and Bethlehem-two of our members know teachers there
Meals On Wheels-washcloths, washcloth dresses and/or mug rugs are their tray the day of their birthday.
St Luke’s Hospice

For more information on this group, please contact me and I'll provide the contact information.
