My Holiday Snowman Knitting Pattern

A quick knit favorite for the Holidays!

Materials Needed:

U.S. Size 7 Knitting Needles

Worsted Weight Yarn (Picture made with Peaches & Crème Yarn)- White for Body, Your choice for Hat and Scarf

Chenille Stems in Black (eyes), Orange (nose), Red (lips)

2 -Three Inch Styrofoam Balls



PATTERN

Body -Cast on 25 Stitches

Row 1-Knit

Row 2– Purl

Row 3–Knit

Row 4-Knit

Repeat above 4 rows 13 times or until piece measures 8 inches long.

Cast off and sew cast off edge to cast on edge to form a tube.

Slide tube over the two Styrofoam balls to create snowman body.

Hat– Cast on 45 stitches

Work in K1, P1 rib for 1-1/2 inches, decrease last row to 30 stitches and switch to stockinette stitch for 1-1/2 inches.

Decrease for crown as follows,

Row 1-K3, K2tog, (K6, K2tog) 3 times, end K1;

Row 2-4-6 Purl across,

Row 3-K2, K2tog, (K5,K2tog) 3 times, end K1;

Row 5-K1, K2tog, (K4, K2tog) 3 times, end K1;

Row 7-K1, K2tog across, end K1 (10 stitches remain);

Row 8 P2tog across.

Cut yarn leaving a tail for sewing seam and thread through remaining stitches pulling firmly and sew seam of hat.

Add Pom Pom (I usually secure hat to body with a long pin through the pom pom into the top of Styrofoam ball.

Scarf-Cast on 6 stitches and knit every row for 10 inches. Tie surely around neck

Add small pieces of chenille stem for facial features as shown in picture.
