Last week I set out on a mission to find yarn to make red socks. I was basically obsessed with the thought of making red socks. Although the urge to work with certain colors is not new for me, the need to work with red is new. I almost always knit with blues, greens, yellow, and browns but last week was all about red. I pulled out my color theory book and sure enough, red is said to reduce anxiety and calm fear. Right now, that's me!. My job is giving me tremendous anxiety. As always, I turn to my knitting and, guess what, it works!
So here's my wonderful, bright socks. The yarn is called Baby Boom by Fiesta and the colorway is the June Flower of the Month. This is the first time that I'm working with this yarn and I'm really enjoying it. It has a terrific feel. The yarn is Extrafine Super Wash Merino and 10% nylon.
The picture below was taken at the park. One of my favorite places to knit. I have a vision of taking a project to the park and spending the day just focused on one project. Of course, I only managed to fit in a 20 minute visit because I had to get back to work ...but someday soon, I'll schedule a full day in the park with my knitting.
Here's the sock as of this afternoon. In one week, I finished the leg and the heel and I'm about half way through the foot. I should be working on the matching sock by the end of the week.
While at the yarn store, I also bought this solid red Lang sock yarn. The pattern is from Knitter magazine and I'm looking forward to making these socks next.
And then I'm determined to finished at least 2 other pairs that are started and work with some other beautiful sock yarn that I purchased earlier this year.
As always, I have a list of projects that I think I'll finish this summer but even if I knit all day, every day, I wouldn't get to them all in the next two months.
Summer is such a wonderful time for me. Plenty of time to knit and sew. Two weeks vacation and I'll be spending it in my studio. Time well spent!
